become as a child

I know I already posted something today, but I just wanted to record something quickly. Since the day Darla was born I have truly felt that she is not only my daughter, but my teacher.
We are given children so that we will be taught - taught to become more like a little child; to become more like God. Children are gifts from our Heavenly Father - to whom we are children.

Suddenly I See

Just some fun pictures from this past weekend. The one of many children dressed up is a typical event at Crazy Grandma's house (yes the grandkids call my mom Crazy Grandma). Darla is 7 months old today. She is ready to get going. She is always reaching for everything. I am guessing she is going to be a busy one once she is crawling. Man, I love her.

It's really happening. . .

I can't believe it. We are truly moving. The idea of moving has begun to sink in because Erik got back from Minneapolis and luckily found a great apartment for us to live in, the moving truck is rented, Erik plus his brothers will be pulling out from Provo on the 15th of August, and my plane ticket is bought. Darla and I will be leaving on the 19th of August. Wow. What all of this means is that I need to start packing! We are rather excited to start a whole new journey.

Pigtails!

The ribbon she has in her hair as a headband came from a wedding invitation. Ever since I opened it up, she grabbed the ribbon out of my hands and has basically be sucking on it since.

Ok. Darla does have a lot of hair, but it is hilarious because it is mainly all on the top and in the back. The sides just have this fuzzy BLOND hair that is trying its hardest to catch up with the rest. It is crazy that her black hair that she had when she was born is turning blond. As you can see in the pictures of her with pigtails the sides are basically bald. What to do? Oh well, luckily she is a girl instead of a boy so I can just grow it out and hope the sides grow in some day.

still not married right?

Ok, I am certainly not up on my pop culture. But I was signing into my hotmail account and the news window always comes up first. There was something about Brad Pitt and Angelina. I believe she just had her twins right? So how many kids do they have now? I bring this up, or even choose to talk about it because I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY AREN'T MARRIED YET! What's the big deal? Why not bring kids into a real relationship of husband and wife instead of boyfriend and girlfriend. I don't get it. This world - I cannot believe what people can get away with, especially when it comes to children, family, and doing what is right.

Go Golden Gophers!

We've decided. Can you believe it? Well we are going to head off to Minnesota sometime in August. It just feels right, that's all there is to it. Erik is going on a little trip to Minneapolis this weekend with his parents with hopes to find a place to live, and to check out the campus. I am excited. It is crazy to think that we have to pack up our apartment again. That is one thing that I am looking forward to, living in the same place for longer than a year. We've already lived 3 places in our two years of marriage. It will be nice to be set somewhere for a little while. The Masters program is 2 years, but if Erik goes on to get a PhD (which I imagine he will) we will be there 5 years. Who would have ever thought we would be living in Minneapolis/St. Paul Minnesota? The adventure is just beginning. What a life.

Heaven? Hebgen.

There is nothing better than being in Hebgen. I will say that having a 6 month old child sure changes things up there, but when she was well rested and fed we had a wonderful time. Erik was there with us for the weekend of the 4th of July, but then Darla and I stayed the rest of the week. I loved spending time with my sisters and their kids. Darla got very used to the three 4 year olds right in her face all day long every day. At first she was quite overwhelmed by all the people, but then she ended up loving it. I have never heard her laugh like she was. Liam, my sister Kathryn's little boy constantly made her laugh. The weather was perfect, volleyball games intense, and Playmill was just as energetic/exhausting as I remembered. We can't wait to get back up there in August.
