the day of this life
Tomorrow our little girl is 3 months old. I was organizing a bunch of pictures of her today (i.e. sliding pictures into photo albums. I am no scrapbooker) and as cliche as it is, I cannot believe how much babies change in just 3 short months. Amazing. Watching her during that time I have thought much about growth and change. What an enormous part of life those two ideas are. Throughout the scriptures we are taught and commanded to "Come unto Christ" so that we might be changed as we are shown and come to understand our potential; what God would have us be. Interestingly enough we are also asked to become childlike. If we are to be as a child - why do we constantly wish away the now and long for future days when we are more "grown up"?

It's Friday already?
It has been quite the week. Erik has heard back and been accepted to 2 grad schools one in New York and one in New Orleans. We are still waiting to find out from the rest. It's like he's getting his mission call all over again. I've never been so diligent in checking the mail every day (well, I take that back. When Erik was on his mission those weekly letters made me a very diligent mailbox checker). Darla is smiling and interacting more than ever. She was a good sport when I was laying on the couch all of Wednesday with a fever (I'm up and running now...not to worry). She just kicked away in her little chair pretty much all day long. Speaking of a good baby, she is supposed to eat in about 5 min and is basically putting herself to sleep in that same seat. It's hilarious because she moves her head so her blanket rubs against her face and then does this little humming sound as she falls asleep. I love it. As it perfectly states in the musical Wicked -"We couldn't be happier...because happy, is what happens when all your dreams come true..."

Mom Haircut
Yes, to those who have been wondering about the pictures, it isn't your imagination, I chopped off my hair. It was constantly in her face; therefore up in a ponytail every single day...all day long. I'm liking it though. Surprisingly it is much easier than I thought. I'm officially a mom.

Roadtrip!
Darla had her first real roadtrip this past weekend. We headed up to Rexburg to see my brother Jim and his family. She was unbelieveable. We left Friday after she had gotten 3 shots at the Doctor (which was quite the tramatic experience for both her and I). She slept pretty much the whole way to and from Rexburg. It was great to be with Jim and Debbie and to see their amazing little boys. On Saturday Erik was able to go up to Hebgen and snowmobile. I was jealous and missed out on that crisp air, perfect snow, and endless solitude. There's nothing like Hebgen in the winter. We had a great weekend...it was nice to get away for a moment.
