cold inside and outside

This weeks well check doctor visit- Bennett was 100% (head, height and weight). Darla was 10% weight - well you get the idea. Basically we have a solid guy and a dainty gal. With the temperatures being cold outside and us battling our colds inside, we've been keeping to ourselves a bit these days. I feel so bad for Bennett with his congestion. It makes me so grateful that we are usually a healthy bunch. I've also re-realized how wonderful of a baby Bennett truly is.
Darla is very involved with Beauty and the Beast these days. Almost every time she watches it she'll say something like, "I love Beast," or "He is so handsome". She walks around the house singing, "No, ones big like Gaston. No, ones, la la la la". Darla has also taken on the job of saying the prayer at dinner, at family prayers, etc. Erik will say, "Jenny, will you say it tonight?" All in the same breath Darla will say, "Darla say it! Dear Heavenly Father....".
Well we have heard back from Minnesota and OF COURSE Erik got accepted for the PhD program here. We are still waiting to hear back from the other three schools he applied to (Berkley, North Carolina, and Washington). So we will see. He is amazing. I'm SO grateful for a husband who is willing to put in the time and effort to make our lives so brilliant. What a wonderful life.

enlightened

As I was scrolling though the photos of our month long trip to Utah . . . these were the two that depicted our trip the best. Darla was all smiles the whole time - her face full of light and learning as she watched and played with her cousins, grandparents, aunt and uncles. She was enlightened by the interactions - the relationships.
Bennett was surrounded by people (babies) his age. Everywhere you'd look all day/night long there were babies. His face was full of light and learning as he watched and sat by his cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles. He was enlightened by the interactions - the relationships.
Erik and I were thrilled to have a break - so many helping hands and enjoyable outings. Wonderful time together. Once again - I repeat myself because it's true - we were enlightened by the interactions (the family discussions, the Spirit, the dinners, the evenings bouncing babies, the treats, the laughter, the reunions, the humbling moments, the music etc). I am changed for good.
